AAMI Offers Webinar on Construction and Renovation of Sterile Processing Facilities

The first of three presentations, this program from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)  focuses on understanding the design process to assist participants in collecting the most useful information and required planning data for making good design choices. The planning phases and the roles of the various design team members will be discussed. The importance of designing a highly functional sterile processing department with flexibility for growth is emphasized. And, by learning how to incorporate the necessary infection prevention elements into the design, planners of sterile processing facilities will be able to create the infrastructure for viable systems many years into the future.  

This webinar will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET.  

The program will:
1.Identify the design phases associated with new construction projects;
2.Discuss the types of data and the key decisions that are required during the design process;
3.Discuss the role of the sterile processing team and the managers influence on the projects success;
4.Identify the advance preparations that can facilitate a smooth transition and occupancy of the new sterile processing facility.
 
The speaker is Cynthia Hubbard, a nurse consultant with Cynthia Hubbard Consulting of Spokane, Wash.

Instruction is targeted to any department in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, or clinics that produce sterile products for their patients.
