The Perioperative QuizBowl will debut at the 2005 AORN Congress in April. This unparalleled, action-packed session will have a game show atmosphere, but will be unique to perioperative nursing. This general session will engage the audience and enhance everyones knowledge-base. The top four teams will compete at AORN Congress for the grand prize and appropriate recognition. The Final Four Teams will go down in AORN history. AORN will provide exciting details at a later date to promote enthusiasm and mechanisms to support the final four teams. All team members must attend Congress.
How can you become part of this inaugural event? Create a team of four members plus an alternate (all must be AORN members). The five team members will elect a team captain. The team will need to come up with a unique team name to identify the team during the testing phase and at Congress. The team also will need a password to modify their team information during the testing phase.
To participate in Perioperative QuizBowl: Evidence-Based Practice you must attend Congress on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. Register the team on a secured portion of the AORN Web site; the team must be registered by Nov. 21, 2004. A multiple-choice test will be given online to identify which teams will compete at AORN Congress, and testing will take place on the AORN Web site. All team members will take a secure, online timed test. They will have one week to complete the test. The test will be given Dec. 6-10, 2004. Once the testing starts, team member cant be replaced.
AORN will waive Congress registration for the four final teams on Wednesday, April 6, only.
AORN will announce the final four teams by Feb. 4, 2005. Winning teams will be notified via e-mail. If one or more ties occur among the top teams, the final four teams will be chosen randomly.
The final four teams will compete at the 2005 Congressbuzzers and all! Each team member will be required to attend a rehearsal on Wednesday from 9:30 am to 3:15 pm, to become familiar with the stage setting and technology. The Perioperative QuizBowl will be held on Wednesday, April 6, from 4:40 p.m. to 6 pm.
