Artifical Pancreas in Tests
LONDON - Participants in a European study will receive artificial pancreases next month as part of a clinical trial.
The pancreas, which controls the body's insulin levels, has been recreated in a three-part system. A sensor on the skin measures blood glucose levels, a small computer analyzes the information and a pump sends glucose out into the body.
The system was reportedly designed to in a man's belt or a woman's bra.
The trials will begin in Austria next month.
