DebMed, a leader in the healthcare hand hygiene market and creator of the award-winning DebMed® Electronic Hand Hygiene Compliance Measurement System, will present four healthcare leaders in an interactive panel discussion at APIC 2016. The annual 43rd Educational Conference of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) will take place June 11-15 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Attendees of the DebMed Symposia will hear about real-world experiences with electronic hand hygiene compliance measurement and positive outcomes from Jackie Blanchard, director of infection prevention at Atlantic Health System; Martha Bouk, RN, BSN, infection preventionist at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, Ill; Jonathan M. Schouest, MPH, area manager of infection prevention and control at St. Joseph Health Sonoma County; and Connie Steed, MSN, RN, CIC, director of infection prevention at Greenville Health System. The four thought leaders, representing large hospital systems and community hospitals, have all implemented DebMed systems in their facilities and will share how adopting the technology helped them achieve positive clinical, financial and safety culture outcomes.
All APIC attendees are welcome to come to the Symposia, which will take place on Saturday, June 11, at the Westin Hotel. Network with peers and enjoy refreshments from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and listen to the panel discussion from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. To register, visit http://info.debmed.com/rsvp.
Additionally, APIC attendees are invited to stop by DebMed’s booth 1707 during regular exhibit hours to learn about the latest version of hand hygiene monitoring software. The following advancements allow for faster and easier report generation and more insightful data analysis in the fight against healthcare-associated infections:
• New “Unit Group” feature allows grouping of any units together into one category. This provides the ability to compare compliance performance of that unit group with the entire facility, other unit groups or individual units, and drive change throughout the unit or facility.
• “Report Remembers” makes it easier to recreate the same or similar reports resulting in faster report navigation and generation.
• A new “Rolling 5 Week Report” delivers a five-week display of hand hygiene compliance in weekly points. This demonstrates a longer range view of compliance and generates a smoother trend line when looking at performance.
Infection preventionists can run compliance reports for any length of time in seconds, and redesigned navigation and an intuitive layout enhance the user experience. In addition to providing an accurate picture of hand hygiene compliance, advanced reporting capabilities reduce the time IPs spend on actual reporting, freeing up their time for other duties.
“Accurate, timely reporting is the basis for actionable feedback that Infection Preventionists can share with staff to drive hand hygiene behavior change and increase compliance rates,” said Didier Bouton, president and CEO of DebMed North America. “Straightforward and intuitive reporting complements the primary capability of DebMed technology. We measure compliance based on the World Health Organization’s 5 Moments guideline, the higher clinical standard than the “in and out” method of washing hands, to deliver accurate results and reduce costly and deadly healthcare-associated infections.”
