ECRI Institute, an independent nonprofit that researches best approaches to improving patient care, announces results from its recent user experience survey on endoscope reprocessors. Hospitals and health systems nationwide used ECRI Institute's SELECTplus™ User Experience Network to report direct experience with one or more of 11 different automatic endoscope reprocessor models. The survey results show rankings of automatic endoscope reprocessors by vendor and model on several criteria, including reliability, ease of use, compatibility with scopes, service response time, and user training.
The user data reveals that five vendors dominate the market: Advanced Sterilization Products (ASP), Custom Ultrasonics, Medivators, Olympus, and Steris. In addition to the survey results, the UEN data includes market analytics, feature-by-feature comparisons, member interest (market share), average quoted prices, and other market analytics derived from ECRI Institute's research and expert analyses.
An excerpt of some of the survey results is available in a recent "techIQ" brief for free download. The full report is available to ECRI Institute members on the member website.
The SELECTplus User Experience Network is part of a comprehensive decision support resource for medical technology purchasers with user satisfaction rankings and other key purchasing information, including market analytics from ECRI Institute's analysts and technology management experts. The resource is a member benefit of ECRI Institute's SELECTplus capital technology advisory service used by more than 3,500 members from healthcare organizations worldwide.
ECRI Institute is currently conducting its next user experience survey which asks medical equipment purchasers to rate MRI systems in their facilities. Results of the survey are planned to be released in May. SELECTplus User Experience Network survey results are currently available for CT scanners, ultrasound imaging, beds, monitors, and alarm management.
