Today, the vast majority of hospital disinfectant wipes are made with synthetic, plastic fibers and take hundreds of years to break down in landfills. The number of single-use, plastic disinfectant wipes used by North American healthcare facilities every year could circle the Earth approximately 58 times.1 The Ecolab® Disinfectant 1 Wipe is the first EPA-registered2, 1-minute hospital disinfection wipe that is 100% plastic-free3 and readily degradable, made with substrate derived 100% from wood pulp fibers. During a 4-week comparative study in the OR, one facility demonstrated a 60% reduction in wipes used with Ecolab® Disinfectant 1 Wipe vs the leading alcohol-based wipe— reducing both single use plastic waste and costs associated with disinfectant wipes.4
