Laser Keyboard Fosters Sterile Healthcare Environment, Eliminates Hand Transfer of Bacteria Common With Traditional Keyboards

PHOENIX -- iBIZ Technology Corp. says that the healthcare industry should consider widespread use of virtual keyboards to create a more sterile environment. The company considers traditional keyboards as common festering places for bacteria to grow and then spread from hand-to-hand. iBIZ states their laser keyboard has no mechanical moving parts thus no places for the bacteria to hide. The flat surface on which their laser is projected can be sprayed with chemical disinfectant after each use. Spraying a traditional keyboard with disinfectant to control spread of bacteria can clog the keyboard making it ineffective. The company claims that eliminating the use of traditional keyboards, a hands-on tool, will reduce bacteria and the spread of infectious disease.

The iBIZ Virtual Keyboard device leverages the power of laser and infrared technology. By projecting a full size keyboard image onto a flat surface it analyzes what is being typed according to the coordinates of the location. The Virtual Keyboard easily attaches to PCs and PDAs, has its own battery pack, and is the size of a disposable cigarette lighter. The device includes a self-contained, rechargeable lithium ion battery providing an internal power supply of three to four hours. Compatible with PCs and laptops, it runs on Windows 98/2000/XP, and most PDAs using Palm or Pocket PC Operating System.
