MUNDELEIN, Ill. -- Medline Industries, Inc., was recently named the 2003 Manufacturer/Distributor of the Year by the Pacific Coast Region (PCR) of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) for its outstanding support of wound care nursing.

"As Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) nurses, we realize that to be successful in our practices, we rely heavily on manufacturers and distributors like Medline who provide various types of support to make our jobs easier and more efficient," said Elizabeth Hiltabidel, RN, MSN, CWOCN, and treasurer of PCR WOCN. "The professionalism of the Medline Advanced Wound Care Division here on the West Coast is unsurpassed. The Medline team, under the direction of Jeff Rubel, has gone beyond the call of duty to assist us in our everyday tasks. We realize that this is very valuable to us in our profession and wish to take this opportunity to thank them for their outstanding support.

Specifically, Medline provides tools for the education of nursing staff through its Educare seminars, its Educare Hotline, a toll-free access to Medline's board-certified ET/WOC nurses and through its more than 50 wound care product specialists. Through this support, Medline also provided materials to promote the continued education of WOC (ET) nurses and utilized WOC nurses in the development and evaluation of products which contribute to the wellbeing of patients.

"We are very honored to receive this award from the PCR of WOCN and will do everything we can to continue to live up to its high standards," said Jeff Rubel, vice president of the Western Division of Medline's Advanced Wound Care Sales Division. "We work very closely with WOC nurses and many of our ideas for new products and support services come from them."

The PCR is an association of WOC (ET) Nurses with the mission to support the professional growth of its membership along the continuum of wound, ostomy and continence nursing practice by providing leadership, mentorship and education opportunities.
