New CE Accreditation for OSAP

Article

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Dental Board of California has named the nonprofit Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP) a registered continuing-education (CE) provider. California residents who attend OSAP programs or complete OSAP CE exams can now earn credit hours that are approved through the state. The approval is granted through February 2005.

OSAP is now recognized as an approved CE provider by the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Dental Assisting National Board and by the states of California and New York.

OSAP offers continuing dental education through educational conferences like its annual symposium (slated for June 19-22, 2003 in Tucson, Ariz., with more than 20 hours of CE offered) and the annual joint OSAP-Federal Service Intermediate-Level Dental Infection Control and Occupational Safety and Health Course (scheduled for January 27-30, 2004, in Atlanta, with more than 30 CE credit hours available).

The group also awards CE for successfully completing tests on training and self-study materials, such as the OSAP Interact Employee Infection Control and Safety Training System (up to 10 CE hours) and its Infection Control In Practice newsletter (published eight times each year, offering 1 CE credit hour per issue).

"We are so pleased to have our educational program and materials approved for CE credit in California," said OSAP executive director Therese Long, CAE. "California dental workers have been so loyal to OSAP; in addition to receiving top-notch infection control and safety information, they can also receive credit toward maintaining their licenses and certifications."
