MUNDELEIN, IL - Medline Industries, Inc. has been awarded an agreement for its Konig Surgical Instrument line by Novation, the supply company of VHA Inc. and the University HealthSystem Consortium, two national healthcare alliances that represent more than 2,400 healthcare organizations. The three-year, multi-vendor agreement is worth up to $60 million over the term of the agreement and offers significant savings to VHA and UHC members.
The agreement calls for Medline to provide its Konig line of German-made surgical instruments, including general and specialty instruments and laparoscopic instruments. As part of the agreement, Medline will also offer a complete range of instrument repair services, including a 10 percent cost saving guarantee. Medline will also guarantee availability of more than 2,100 of the most highly utilized instruments. Medline guarantees that if an item is not shipped within three business days, members will receive a 50 percent discount on that item.
The König line is manufactured in Germany where a series of ISO 9000 certified facilities craft the instruments using only the finest quality German stainless steel. The König collection consists of general and specialty instruments and is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Other valued added programs Medline offers include consignment purchasing, ALEX asset management software, educational support with CEU credit and clinical support including over 35 Medline clinical specialists.
Medline is ISO 9000, EN 46000 registered and FDA QSR compliant, the most stringent international standards for producing quality products. As a leading supplier of quality products, Medline is asked to serve on major industry quality committees to develop guidelines and standards for medical product use. Some of these organizations include the FDA Midwest Steering Committee, AAMI Sterilization and Packaging Committee and the various ASTM committees.
With the addition of this new agreement, Medline has agreements with Novation that include IV start kits and central line dressing kits, custom procedure trays and unitized delivery systems, hand hygiene products, admission kits, suction catheters, home care, long-term care and small procedure trays.
Medline distributes more than 100,000 products to hospitals, extended care facilities, surgery centers, hospital laundries, home care dealers and agencies and other alternate site markets from its 27 distribution centers in the U.S.
