Sharps-Safety Workshops to be Held February 13-14, 2003

Article

The Florida Hospital Association is conducting two seminars, "The Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act: Facilitating the Role of the Infection Control Practitioner" and "Safety Professional."

These workshops will provide detailed, practical information on how to comply with the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act in an effort to reduce employee sharps injuries. A presentation and a question-and-answer period will be conducted by an expert on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)'s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard.

The workshop will also involve an exhibit of the newest safety medical devices. More than 70 safety medical devices will be assessed. Participants are encouraged to bring their Bloodborne Pathogen Plan and samples of safety devices.

To register or to get more information on the February 13, 2003 program in Fort Lauderdale or the February 14, 2003 program in Orlando, visit the Florida Hospital Association web site at www.fha.org.
