WASHINGTON, DC-An American doctor has been asked to become the executive director of the Genomics Program for the Republic of Singapore.
Currently Edison T. Liu, MD, is the director of the Division of Clinical Sciences of the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.
Liu will help Singapore to establish itself as a biomedical science hub for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology medical devices, and healthcare services sectors. The island republic plans to spend $4 billion during the next five years on research infrastructure for biomedical sciences.
