The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) will hold the webinar, "Immediate-Use Steam Sterilization: Are You Following Recommended Practices?" on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET.
Immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS)Â is a hot topic with the Joint Commission, and its use has recently been clarified in updated recommended practices from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). This webinar will discuss the updated recommended practices and what The Joint Commission is expecting about the use of IUSS when they survey your healthcare facility.
After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
Define an IUSS cycle and identify when it is appropriate to use that cycle.
Describe what IUSS data the Joint Commission is looking for during a survey and how to benchmark the use of IUSS in order to reduce its use.
Develop a policy for effective use of IUSS based on recommended practices.
The speaker is Martha L. Young, BS, MS, CSPDT, of Martha L. Young, LLC, Providing SAVVY Sterilization Solutions for Healthcare. Instruction is targeted to any department in hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, or clinics that produce sterile products for their patients.
The cost is $79 per registration for AAMI members and $99 per registration for non-members.
