APIC Seeks Applicants for Heroes Implementation Research Scholar Award

Article

During its recent annual conference in San Antonio, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) announced the new Heroes Implementation Research Scholar Award program. The association is issuing a call for proposals, seeking innovative projects to examine success strategies identified by the APIC Heroes as well as others and show how these strategies can benefit other infection prevention programs.

Since 2006, more than 80 talented infection preventionists have been recognized, either individually or as teams, as an APIC Hero of Infection Prevention. As this group continues to expand, APIC seeks to learn from the successful programs highlighted by the award.

To accomplish this, APIC has partnered with BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) to sponsor the APIC Heroes Implementation Research Scholar program. Two awards of up to $50,000 each will be granted to:
Identify successful strategies as exemplified within the Heroes group
Determine potential ways to implement these findings across the infection prevention community

The deadline for applications is Sept. 30, 2012.
