Belimed, Haldor Announce Partnership for Real-Time Surgical Instrument Management System

Article

Belimed Inc., part of the Belimed Group, a leader in sterile processing systems and solutions in healthcare and life sciences, announces that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Haldor Advanced Technologies Ltd., the leading provider of RFID-enabled surgical instrument management solutions for the healthcare industry. Through this partnership, Belimed will market and sell Haldors ORLocate® system as a complete solution in conjunction with Belimeds processing equipment to provide and document real-time information about each sterile processing cycle.

ORLocate® enables hospitals to significantly reduce costs associated with surgical instrument shrinkage as well as provide accurate usage data on each instrument to optimize instrument set size and overall inventory. The state of the art system helps increase staff productivity and accuracy by actively guiding and monitoring the technicians entire workflow cycle to ensure compliance and improve patient safety by managing infection control and the prevention of retained surgical items with accurate instrument level data. With this partnership, Belimed can leverage Haldors real-time surgical instrument management solutions that deliver both the location and status of surgical instruments in sterile processing departments and operating rooms. Benefits of the system include:
- Reducing the loss of surgical instruments
- Optimizing the repair and maintenance schedules of surgical instruments
- Association of instrument to specific patient
- Reducing the reprocessing of instruments that were never used

Haldor is excited to be working with Belimed, a global market leader, to help hospitals and healthcare systems transform their operations, says Rubi Halberthal, Haldors president and CEO. Improving patient safety and optimizing workflow between sterile processing departments and ORs is a necessity in todays healthcare environment. We look forward to the collaboration with Belimed to enable healthcare organizations to optimize processing efficiencies, reduce costs, and enhance patient safety.

This is a monumental leap forward, says Joe McDonald, Belimeds medical group president. This is the first true instrument tracking system at the instrument level, which covers the full continuum of Sterile Processing Department and OR, and doesnt result in any additional workflow time. While tray level software has been in the marketplace for many years, this is the first real instrument level technology.
