PDI, a leader in infection prevention products and solutions, announces it will host educational sessions focused on infection prevention in environmental services at the 2015 AHE Exchange, an annual educational event attended by more than 600 professionals with an interest in caring for the healthcare environment. The event will take place at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas, Texas Sept. 20-23, 2015.
Along with an exhibitor booth (#633), PDI will participate in three education sessions across three days. Additionally, PDI will sponsor a lunch and learn where attendees will hear from an expert in the environmental services industry, as well as the winners of Delivering the Difference, a contest recognizing industry professionals who display excellence in building collaborative relationships between infection prevention and environmental services teams in healthcare facilities.
"As PDI continues to celebrate its positive relationship with AHE, we strive each year to develop and share accessible learnings for attendees to take back and implement right away on the job," says Dr. Hudson Garrett, vice president of clinical affairs at PDI. "I'm really exciting about PDI's offerings this year, and personally, I'm thrilled to take part in three engaging, informative sessions that will continue to drive healthcare professionals toward the best practices to prevent HAIs."
PDI will participate in the following AHE sessions:

•TeamSTEPPS in Environmental Services, 8:30 to 12:30 p.m.
TeamSTEPPS is a teamwork system that offers a powerful solution to improving collaboration and communication within your institution. Teamwork has been found to be one of the key initiatives within patient safety that can transform the culture within health care. Patient safety experts agree that communication and other teamwork skills are essential for the provision of quality healthcare, and for the prevention and mitigation of patient injury and harm, as well as medical errors.

•Building a Just Culture for Accountability to Prevent Healthcare Associated Infections, 11:00 to 12:15 p.m.
During this interactive session, participants will be exposed to the core concepts of "just culture" to aid in the prevention of HAIs by improving systems, accountability and feasibility. This evidence-based approach has been scientifically studied for more than 15 years, and is used widely by healthcare executives. It can easily be applied to environmental services to assist in the prevention of HAIs and to improve accountability at the bedside. Participants will use an algorithm to improve the culture of their practice setting, and also to empower accountability in every environmental services professional at the bedside.
•Lunch and Learn (sponsored by PDI), 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Hear from Fiona Nemetz, MS, CHESP, director of environmental services, safety and security at Northside Hospital, on fostering better collaboration between infection prevention and environmental services to improve outcomes. Then, infection preventionist Priscila Bercea and environmental services resident regional manager Alissa Bachnack, winners of Delivering the Difference, will share their success story with practical tips for implementation.
Tuesday, September 22
•Selection of the Ideal Disinfectant Panel Discussion, 8:15 to 9:30 a.m.
Led by a panel of industry experts, this highly informative, interactive program discusses how to effectively evaluate disinfectant products.
