PeridoxRTU Sporicidal Disinfectant and Cleaner Successfully Decontaminates Hazardous Drugs

Article

PeridoxRTU®, a ready-to-use, broad-spectrum, EPA-registered sporicide, bactericide, virucide, tuberculocide and fungicide disinfectant and cleaner, has been proven to effectively decontaminate critical surfaces that come in contact with hazardous substances. PeridoxRTU allows for proper containment, a major component of safe handling of hazardous drugs.

Because there is no single process that has been proven to deactivate all currently available drugs, Contec set out to validate a cleaning process that would effectively decontaminate by cleaning. There are currently more than 150 different drugs listed by NIOSH as hazardous, and USP’s pending chapter 800 guidelines address the proper handling of hazardous drugs. When used correctly, PeridoxRTU Sporicidal Disinfectant and Cleaner removes many hazardous drugs and reduces the risks to Pharmacists and other healthcare personnel.

PeridoxRTU combines hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid with proprietary ingredients to dramatically out-perform similar chemistries on the market.  PeridoxRTU’s patented, hyperactive chemistry provides a 3-minute sporicidal claim, a 2-minute virucidal and bactericidal claim, and a 1-minute fungicide claim and leaves minimal residue on surfaces, a necessary feature for cleaning critical environments. Unlike sodium hypochlorite solutions, PeridoxRTU will not damage stainless steel and other surfaces found in environments where hazardous drugs are compounded.
