Hussey Copper has entered into a new partnership with Polar Air Supply, LLC of Riviera Beach, Fla. for a new line of copper ducts to raise heating ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system efficiency by combating odor-causing mold and mildew.
HVAC system components operate in warm, dark, humid environments that are ideal breeding grounds for mold and mildew that cause odors and can reduce system efficiency. According to the Copper Development Association, laboratory testing on odor-causing mold and mildew has shown that copper materials, such as MD-Cu29 from Hussey Copper, can inhibit the growth of these organisms. These findings show the advantage of material like MD-Cu29 antimicrobial copper over galvanized steel surfaces because of its ability to inhibit the growth of odor-causing mold.
Polar Air Supply has produced the first copper insulated ducts available at the retail and consumer levels with EPA-registered product claims in regards to suppressing the growth of bacteria and molds that can lead to reductions in system efficiency and could cause product deterioration or foul odors. Polar Air Supply, a leading UL 181 metal duct manufacturer, is leading the charge to introduce copper ducts in hospitals, schools, healthcare facilities and laboratories.
"At Hussey Copper, we are enthusiastic about our partnership with Polar Air Supply who shares our passion for innovation by linking technology and manufacturing. Our partnership strengthens the support for American industry," says Joe Mallak, CEO of Hussey Copper.
