The recipient will be announced on Jan. 15, 2012. The Hygiene Specialist Excellence award includes an all-expense-paid vacation for two to South Beach, Fla, including airfare and accommodations.
The award is part of UMF's new PerfectCLEAN Hygiene Specialist program, which is focused on training, education and ongoing reinforcement of infection prevention"best practices for environmental services. The program increases awareness and promotes safe-patient environment standards related to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
"Environmental services is the first line of defense in eliminating HAIs," says George Clarke, UMF's CEO. "The Hygiene Specialist Excellence Award acknowledges their invaluable contribution to providing a safe patient environment and reducing HAIs. We want to help elevate their role within the hospital hierarchy and give them the respect they're due."
In addition to a focus on its Hygiene Specialist Program, UMF offers a wide range of products made from high-performance, microdenier fibers with built-in antimicrobial protection. Products used as part of the PerfectCLEAN System trap and remove pathogens; prevent cross contamination; provide excellent ROI by reducing costs through streamlined processes and standardization; and increase productivity and speed of room turns.
