The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) has awarded the AORN Seal of Recognition to the PerfectCLEAN® Operating Room program developed by UMF Corporation, a manufacturer and innovator of infection prevention products.
          Â
According to Lisa Spruce, DNP, RN, ACNS, ACNP, ANP, CNOR, director of evidence-based perioperative practice, the AORN Seal of Recognition confirms that the content of the PerfectCLEAN Operating Room program material has undergone thorough review by AORN and meets the guidelines of the AORN Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices for Environmental Cleaning. While not an endorsement, the Seal of Recognition is confirmation that the PerfectCLEAN Operating Room program material has met AORN guidelines.
The specific components of UMF Corporations PerfectCLEAN Operating Room program material that have been recognized by AORN are the PerfectCLEAN Handbook, and a series of checklists 24-hour Idle OR Processing, Between Procedure Processing OR, Pre-First Procedure Processing of the Operating Room, and Terminal Processing of the Operating Room.       Â
This recognition by AORN is a truly gratifying and significant acknowledgment of our PerfectCLEAN Operating Room program material, says Bill Slezak, UMF Corporations vice president of healthcare. We continue to strive to innovate and provide the best practices supported by the best-in-class infection prevention products in the battle to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
Perioperative nurses rely on healthcare industry representatives to teach proper use of products and services that will be used in and around the operating room. The education program materials submitted by UMF Corporation are informative and meet the associations standards for excellence in safe patient care, says Spruce. Perioperative nurses can be confident in its content.
To assist the perioperative community in selecting quality training activities that promote safety and optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures, AORN has created a directory of materials and activities that have been awarded the AORN Seal of Recognition.
