The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN®) announces its expanded partnership with Sage Products. Together, WOCN® Society and Sage have formed the Partners in Prevention program, which provides wound, ostomy and continence (WOC) nurses with tools and education about hospital-acquired conditions through various initiatives.
WOCN Society is excited about our partnership with Sage, which will further provide education and tools to our WOC nurses through the new Partners in Prevention program, says WOCN® Society president Phyllis Kupsick, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, CWOCN. Sage is a leader in producing the best skin damage prevention products and we are proud to be working with them on this endeavor.
WOCN Society and Sage share the core philosophy of preventionWOC nurses use evidence-based care and prevention strategies with their patients, while Sage develops products that prevent skin damage. Both organizations understand that evidence-based interventions will lead to improved patient outcomes.
We are extremely pleased to be working with WOCN® Society on Partners in Prevention, says Eric Farrell, senior product manager for Sage. This partnership is a significant advancement for our industry, and we could not be more thrilled to partner with WOCN® Society, the leader in WOC education. This will truly help us collaborate in our efforts to prevent pressure ulcers.
Partners in Prevention provides WOC nurses with education and tools through several means, including a three-part webinar series, symposium on prevention and first-time poster presenter travel awards:
The webinar series is designed to further knowledge in advancing and supporting the prevention of pressure ulcers, and is open to WOCN® members and non-members. Registrants may participate in one or all webinars in the series, the first of which occurs in spring 2014.
Sage will host a breakfast symposium at WOCN® Societys 46th Annual Conference in Nashville, Tenn. in June 2014. This symposium will further enhance the educational experience in the WOC community.
Sage will once again offer travel scholarships to first-time poster presenters whose research focuses on prevention, in order to offset cost of attending the WOCN® Societys 46th Annual Conference. Recipients of the scholarship award must be a WOCN® member, a first-time poster presenter with focus on prevention and an individual without institutional funding to attend the conference.
